INTRODUCTION: The Saiga-12 is a semi-automatic 12-gauge shotgun based on the Kalashnikov rifle design and produced in the Izhmash factory in Izhevsk, Russia. The Saiga-12 is in use with Russian Special Forces units (Spetznaz and OMON), and commercial versions have found international popularity with hunters, sportsmen, police and armed citizens
CONVERTION: Saiga shotguns were imported in a "sporter" configuration with a conventional shotgun-style stock and an altered trigger group. With the demise of the "Assault Weapons" Ban in 2004, converting a Saiga-12 to a standard AK layout became legal, as long as one swaps out 3 foreign-made parts with US-made equivalents to avoid running afoul of federal import restrictions. Tromix sells the triger kit for very cheap and its fearly easy to do. just some power tools and a great how too video in youtube and your done.
RANGE TIME: This ak 47 like shotgun has a few pointers that make it one of the best shotguns I have used and handle. its taken apart just like an ak 47, it functions just like an ak 47, and it takes magazines of 5, 10, 12 and there are aftermarket drums of 20,22,and I have heard of 30 as well giving this shotgun one of the highest rates of fire out of any shotgun in the market for the price of 500 bucks. its shoots like a dream and having everyone around you stop and be amazed at what you are shooting fells really good too.
